This edit suite is based around the "FAST Silver". It's a responsive, easy to learn, flexible yet powerful video editing system. If you are a PC user you will be pleased to have a high end editor on the PC platform. However Mac users should not discount this system. We think you will find editing with Silver easy and enjoyable.

The FAST interface arranges the source and record monitors in the standard configuration along with the time line, but layout and most of the program can be highly customized.

During logging, the system captures the first frame of a logged clip and displays it in the rack, before the clip is digitized. If you want to modify information for a non-digitized clip, you will find this system superior to Avid's modify tool, because there are more attributes that can be changed, including tape, timecode and track information, and all the options are available in one window, rather than via pull-down menus.

For editing all the basic options are there, insert, overwrite and three-point editing. The system replicates Avid's JKL play-pause-reverse function. Plus you also have the FAST Silver jog shuttle with hot keys, also completely configurable.

In the unlikely event that you make a mistake (!), there are 40 levels of undo. But that's not all, again the FAST Silver improves on the Avid by offering "InstantSave". You are never interrupted by an autosave, BUT if you crash or pull the plug on the Silver, when you turn it back on the program will restart exactly where you were, with all of your work preserved up to the moment of the crash. FAST Silver offers some real-time effects, including dissolves and fades, and motion effects. There are a few ways to create basic effects, including an FX menu in the Project window, a 2D or 3D Editor and contextual menus. There is also a CG tool with various features, such as the ability to do a crawl. However the best feature about the Effects tool is its background rendering. You can continue to edit, make new effects and even log clips while your material renders!

FAST also supports work brought in from Adobe After Effects.

The FAST Silver also handles audio well with waveforms displayed in the timeline by default, without an appreciable effect on performance, making it easy to cut sound precisely. You can rubber-band volume levels and add simple cross fades without rendering, listening to tracks live as you mix them.
